Rylee Pierce has a rough debut with #6 Arizona, as the Cats beat #14 Michigan, lost to #5 Florida, and lost to unranked NC State. She went 0-11 at the plate, playing in 4 of their 5 games. Hitting a robust .000 on the season.

Sanchez, as expected, killed it against mediocre competition, hit .692, 9-13. The always light hitting Tigers hit .474 as a team, which says a lot about their competition.

Lauren Rice started the opener for Ohio State and went 5 innings for the win over George Mason. Didn’t pitch at all the next 3 games. Two other pitchers had complete game wins for the Buckeyes, not clear where she is in the rotation. OSU beat Ole Miss and lost to UCF, went 3-1 on the weekend.

Burnside of course is sitting out the 2019 season at Arkansas. Seemed she and Arky fans were surprised that she was not allowed to transfer within the SEC and play right away, which says something about the education system in that state. You have to wonder if she will ever start there now. Arky has a true freshman SS named Maggie Hicks who is leading the team hitting .462 the first weekend, no errors in the field. If she keeps that up, Burnside will sit on the bench next year, unless they turn her into a DH.
